Job Overview

In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, COM's doctors are transforming the world of medicine every day. The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff.

The COM Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is looking for an Assistant Professor of Clinical to specialize in Orthopaedic Hand Surgery. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.

In addition to growth in the department and highly competitive compensation, the department is continuing to build collaborative relationships with our partners in plastic surgery. The department has recognized national leaders, both in hand surgery and otherwise, that serve as mentors and facilitators, and its hand surgery fellowship is extremely well-established and internationally renowned.

Essential Functions

  • Teach, train, precept, and mentor UC Medical Students, and UCMC Residents and Fellows, which will include involvement in departmental fellowship programs.
  • Provide expert clinical coverage and services to patients of UC Physicians and UC Health-affiliated facilities, focusing on the care of patients with Orthopaedic needs. This will include diagnosing and providing treatment for routine and complex hand-related conditions through performing consults, clinical care, hand surgery, and outpatient clinics for Orthopaedic patients.
  • Engage in research and educational activities in the area of Orthopaedics, including: conducting outpatient clinics focused on the care of patients with Orthopaedic injuries; preparing research abstracts and research studies; presenting research at local, regional and national scholarly venues and conferences; and giving case presentations.

Minimum Requirements

Prior to effective date of the appointment, all of the following:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO).
  • Completion of five (5)-year orthopaedic surgery residency.
  • Completion of one (1)-year hand surgery fellowship.
  • Licensure by State Medical Board of Ohio.

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
