The Rice School of Architecture invites applications andnominations for a full-time, tenure-track faculty appointment atthe rank of assistant professor with a focus in architecturaldesign, to begin fall 2027.

The Rice School of Architecture welcomes and promotes theproductive interrelationship of design practice and scholarship andis committed to supporting and advancing the voices of architectsin academia. We seek outstanding design faculty who will pursue afocused design research agenda in areas that may include, but arenot limited to, representation, materiality, or environment, atscales ranging from the building to the city. Successful candidateswill teach undergraduate and graduate design studios, offer lecturecourses and seminars in their areas of expertise, and conductresearch and produce creative work of the highest caliber. Facultyare expected to bring a distinct voice, develop and sustain a clearline of inquiry, participate in the collective intellectualconversation of the faculty, and contribute to the advancement ofthe field of architecture more broadly.

As the fourth-largest and one of the most dynamic cities in theUnited States, Houston, Texas reflects the world’s most pressingchallenges and is an exciting laboratory for new forms ofarchitectural discourse and design agency. Candidates should hold, at a minimum, a master of architecturedegree or its equivalent (degree requirements must be fulfilled byJuly 1 of the year employment commences).
