The Department of Animal Sciences in Auburn University’s College of Agriculture invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Nutritional Physiology and Metabolism, anticipated to begin August 1, 2027. The successful candidate will develop an innovative, externally funded research program focused on nutrient digestion, absorption, metabolism, and their effects on growth, efficiency, health, product quality, and sustainability in livestock production systems, with potential emphasis on nutrient partitioning, metabolic regulation, microbiome-host interactions, precision nutrition, nutrient utilization efficiency, and responses to environmental and management stressors. The position includes 60% research and 40% teaching responsibilities, including undergraduate and graduate courses in animal nutrition, metabolism, and physiology, as well as curriculum development and student mentoring. The candidate will be expected to collaborate across disciplines, establish a nationally recognized research program supported by extramural funding, mentor graduate students, and communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in animal science or a relevant field by the start date, a research emphasis in animal nutritional physiology and metabolism with an interest in livestock species, a demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring, the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, and eligibility to work legally in the United States.
