Position Description

The School of Nursing and Health Studies at the University of Washington Bothell (UWB) invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time (100% FTE) basis for a nine-month academic appointment, (3-year term, renewable) beginning September 16, 2027.

The base salary range for this position will be $10,200 - $10,500 per month during the nine-month academic year ($91,800 - $94,500 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

The successful candidate will be expected to engage with: 1) approaches to teaching, scholarship, and/or service that integrate social justice considerations, 2) transformational learning, innovative pedagogy, and engaged scholarship in an inclusive and interdisciplinary culture of learning, 3) pedagogical approaches for teaching in classroom-based, hybrid and online settings, and 4) community connections and outreach efforts within a community, clinical, or public health context.

Our interdisciplinary school provides all SNHS faculty with the opportunity to engage in creative and innovative approaches to health-related courses and scholarship. Our academic programs are poised for exciting new directions in the coming years. SNHS currently offers the following degrees: 1) a RN to BSN degree, 2) a BA degree in Health Studies emphasizing community/public health and social justice, 3) a Master’s of Nursing (MN) emphasizing education, leadership, and community/global health, 4) a Master’s of Science in Community Health and Social Justice. We also have three minors in Health Studies, Global Health, and Health Education and Promotion. All faculty are expected to contribute across our programs and synergize with the department's mission, which is to advance social justice, health, and nursing practice through innovative pedagogy, research, and community engagement. Faculty in SNHS apply expertise from a range of health-related fields, including social determinants of health, nursing, health education and promotion, behavioral health, community health, social justice pedagogy, global health, and others. We continue to develop community and industry partnerships to expand fieldwork, capstones, and collaborative research opportunities for students and faculty. All full-time faculty positions in the School are state-funded hard money positions that are not dependent on grants or temporary allocations.

Qualifications

Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications:

1) This position requires a doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in a health-related field by the date of hire.

2) Candidates must either have, or be currently eligible for, nursing licensure in Washington State.

3) Candidates must have research, teaching or professional expertise in one or more of the following areas: evidence-based clinical practice, population or community health practice, social justice and health, health policy and advocacy, health ethics, behavioral health practice, health assessment/pharmacology, and/or nursing education and leadership.
