UTHealth Houston is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery for a clinical track position. McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time 1.0 FTE, non-tenure clinical (NTC) track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery.
The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in biomedical and social sciences, and model best practices in clinical care and public health through research, teaching, clinical service, administrative activities, and other services.
Position Key Accountabilities:
The faculty in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery will teach, participate in clinical service, provide administrative support, and offer direct patient care and supervision of medical students and residents in clinic and hospital settings.
- Participating in the Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery practice in the Greater Houston area Memorial Hermann locations, including participation in a UT general Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery physician group call team for coverage.
- Collaborating with other Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery physicians who will join the practice.
- Being involved in the recruitment, selection, and hiring of new or additional physicians to the group.
- Providing feedback regarding office operations, including hiring staff, office logistics, and new physician recruitment.
- Participating in the education and training of medical students and residents.
- Supporting the research mission of the department and university by:
- Facilitating reasonable and appropriate access to patients by research staff.
- Assisting with the collection of research data, including biological specimens, when requested.
- Providing information and education on ongoing research studies to potentially eligible research subjects.
Qualifications:
The selected candidate must have a Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License. Board certification or eligibility is required or preferred. A minimum of 20 years of clinical experience or years post-residency is required or preferred.
