The Department of Communication and Media at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, through the College of Literature Science and the Arts (LSA) seeks outstanding tenure-track assistant professors to join our faculty through the 2026-27 LSA Collegiate Fellows Program (LCFP). The LCFP aims to recruit and hire exceptional early-career faculty who have engaged in efforts to increase access and inclusion in higher education through their teaching and mentoring, AND/OR, research and scholarship, AND/OR service and engagement. The LCFP, launched in 2016, has hired more than 60 outstanding faculty who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, have engaged in efforts to build a broadly diverse and equitable scholarly and learning community. The early-career program offers two pathwaysin LSA departments: an immediate tenure-track appointment, or a one- to two-year postdoctoral fellowship followed by a tenure-track position. Successful candidates will receive dedicated research time, mentorship, research and travel funding, and cohort- and program-based professional development opportunities related to scholarship and teaching.
The mission of the Communication and Media major is to study and teach about the mass media and emerging media: Their evolution, their effects, their uses by everyday people, and their regulation and industry practices. We cultivate thorough-going media literacy among our students, and produce cutting-edge scholarship about the media’s impact on individuals and society. Please visit the department’s website.
