Job summary

The University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS seeks an Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine (Heme/Onc BMT) to deliver evidence-based care for patients undergoing transplantation and cellular therapy, participate in education of medical students and residents, and contribute to clinical, teaching, and research missions.

The successful candidate will join the Division of Hematology, collaborate across departments, participate in on-call schedules, and engage in quality improvement

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required.
• Board-certified/eligible in Internal Medicine.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in Kansas and Missouri.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based clinical care for patients with hematologic malignancies in outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Evaluate and manage patients with acute leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, myeloproliferative neoplasms, and clonal hematopoiesis.
• Participate in the divisional on-call schedule and multidisciplinary patient care.
• Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows through clinical rotations, rounds, conferences, and case-based learning.
• Contribute to clinical research and quality improvement initiatives in hematologic malignancies.
• Participate in divisional and departmental meetings, conferences, and other academic activities.

Job Description Summary

The Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology at The University of Kansas Medical Center provides high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care within their area of specialization, including the evaluation, treatment, and ongoing management of patients undergoing blood and marrow transplantation and cellular therapy for hematologic malignancies and other blood disorders. This position is jointly employed by The University of Kansas Medical Center and The University of Kansas Health System and contributes to the clinical, educational, research, and service missions of both institutions.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, the faculty member actively participates in the education and mentorship of learners, including medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees. The individual also contributes to departmental and divisional academic activities through teaching, scholarly engagement, committee service, and other activities that advance the missions of the department, division, and institution.

Job Description

Required Qualifications

Education: MD, DO, or equivalent.
