About the School of Biological Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology

Graduate degree programs include: MS and PhD in Biology, MS and PhD in Bioinformatics, MS and PhD in Computational Science and Engineering, PhD in Neuroscience & Neurotechnology, as well as a PhD in Quantitative Biosciences, Ocean Sciences and Engineering, and Dual Doctor of Physical Therapy/Doctor of Philosophy. Undergraduate degree programs include 4 year BS and 5 year BS/MS programs in Biology and Bioinformatics. Research strengths include: Molecular and Cellular Biology, Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, Neuroscience, Microbial Dynamics and Infection, as well as Integrative Physiology, Evolution, and Ecology. Applicants will be considered at all ranks. We seek outstanding scientists developing and applying innovative statistical, computational, and data-science approaches to understand the genetic architecture of complex traits. We are particularly interested in candidates whose computationally-oriented research in evolution, behavior, and/or human biology, addresses fundamental questions about genetic variation as well as its consequences. Appropriate programs may include population and quantitative genetics, statistical genetics, evolutionary genomics, computational biology, integrative omics, machine learning for genetic discovery, and approaches providing mechanistic insight into disease susceptibility. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will join Georgia Techs Center for Integrative Genomics (CIG) and contribute to a highly interdisciplinary community spanning human genetics, evolutionary genomics, quantitative biology, and neuroscience. They will establish an internationally recognized research program, contribute to graduate and undergraduate teaching, and participate in Georgia Tech's highly collaborative research environment. The School of Biological Sciences offers exceptional opportunities for interdisciplinary interactions across the Colleges of Sciences, Engineering, Computing, and Public Policy, as well as partnerships with regional medical and research institutions.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have a PhD in a field relevant to computational genetics and a minimum of 2 years of relevant research experience in their proposed field of research.
