Overview

The Department of Music invites applications for a tenure-trackAssistant Professor position in Choral Conducting beginningacademic year 2027. Duties include directing one choir and teachingtwo music courses, including but not limited to general musiccourses (e.g., music appreciation, theory), choral methods,conducting, and other courses depending upon the candidate’sinterests and experiences per semester for a total of threecourses, a 9-credit hour load per semester. Two concerts areperformed each year, fall and spring. Other tasks required of thechoral director include preparing the choir to sing at variousCollege events that may include collaborating with other musicfaculty members, recruitment, attending and grading juries, studentadvising, and general tasks as needed assigned to facultymembers.

Salary: $66,000-$76,000

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree requirements: Ph.D., D.M.A., DN, or Ed.D. in ChoralConducting
• Scholarship requirements: A demonstration ofscholarly/creative/artistic work.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong rehearsal and conducting techniques.
• A strong academic background in music required to teach varioustypes of courses in keeping with a liberal arts education
• Experience teaching at institutions of higher education
• Experience teaching music K-12
