Job Description - Assistant Professor - Health Services & Outcomes Research in Cancer/School of Pharmacy (26635)

Position: Assistant Professor - Health Services & Outcomes Research in Cancer
Institution: West Virginia University, School of Pharmacy

The Department of Pharmaceutical Systems and Policy (PSP) at WVU School of Pharmacy seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. This is a 12-month, co-funded (50%) position in collaboration with the Department of Cancer Prevention and Control at the WVU Cancer Institute, starting July 1, 2025. Salary and start-up packages are competitive.

The candidate will work in the PSP department, establishing an independently funded research program focusing on cancer prevention and control, including community-based intervention, implementation science, or cancer disparities. Experience in clinically relevant outcomes research, dissemination and implementation science, and population-based cancer research is desirable. The role includes mentoring doctoral students, teaching in graduate and professional programs, and departmental service.

The School of Pharmacy offers a nationally recognized Ph.D. program in health services and outcomes research with 10 students and numerous opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration. The department has access to extensive datasets and partnerships with state agencies, healthcare organizations, and federal agencies.

The WVU Cancer Institute, part of WVU Medicine and ranked top in the state, provides a rich environment for cancer research and clinical practice, focusing on prevention, disparities, and translation of research into practice. The Department of Cancer Prevention and Control has a long-standing history of community outreach and research programs.

Qualifications include a Ph.D. or equivalent in a health-related discipline with a focus on cancer research, a record of peer-reviewed funded research, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines. Candidates should be committed to education and mentoring and eligible for appointment to the graduate faculty.
