Job summary

The University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry. We seek candidates working in inorganic chemistry (solid-state materials), analytical chemistry, or experimental physical chemistry (spectroscopy or interfaces). Applicants with AI/ML experience are encouraged.

Ph.D. is required; postdoctoral experience is highly desirable. Priority consideration is given to materials uploaded by October 1, 2026.

Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Experimental Inorganic, Analytical, or Physical Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. We seek candidates working in one of the following areas:

  • Inorganic chemistry, with an emphasis on solid-state materials
  • Analytical chemistry, broadly defined
  • Experimental physical chemistry, with an emphasis on spectroscopy or interfaces

Candidates with expertise in artificial intelligence and/or machinelearning are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates will be evaluated on their ability to develop a vigorous, internationally visible, and well-funded research program and should exemplify effective teaching and mentorship to both undergraduate and graduate students. A Ph.D. is required, and postdoctoral experience is highly desirable.
