The Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural, and EnvironmentalEngineering (CAEE) at The University of Texas at Austin invitesapplications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Engineering for the Extreme.
We are interested in candidates whose research addresses themultitude of challenges in engineering for the extreme, at both thesystem and material levels, including: (a) design for extremeterrestrial (subsea, underground, polar, desert) orextraterrestrial (lunar, Martian, orbital) settings; (b) designstrategies to enhance resilience to extreme natural (e.g.,atmospheric) or anthropogenic events (e.g., wildfires); and/or (c)design for extreme or uncommon stressors (e.g., radiation, intensethermal cycling, extreme pressures, micrometeorite impacts).Candidates leveraging AI and physics-informed computationalmodeling in novel ways for engineering for the extreme are stronglyencouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have access tovarious experimental and high-performance computingfacilities.
We are committed to supporting the success of all members of ourcommunity: students, staff, and faculty. A successful candidate canexpect to benefit from and contribute to those efforts.
Candidates must have a PhD in engineering or a related area.
