Job Overview

The School of Criminal Justice – Law and Paralegal Studies program at the University of Cincinnati is seeking an Assistant Professor – Educator (non‑tenure track). The appointment begins August 15, 2026, with a negotiable start date and a 9‑month per year teaching load (12 credit hours per semester).

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Teach in the Law and Paralegal Studies program, including online instruction and mentorship at the college level.
  • Oversight of field placement activities and student organization involvement.
  • Support program compliance with ABA Guidelines for the approval of Paralegal Programs.
  • Contribute to departmental, institutional, and organizational activities.
Minimum Requirements
  • Juris Doctorate.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in the legal field.
  • Experience working with or as a paralegal.
  • Demonstrated experience and strong commitment to online teaching and mentoring at the college level.
  • Licensed to practice law in good standing.
Required Education
  • Doctorate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution in a field relevant to the position.
Required Experience
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research, evidenced by a strong publication record in peer‑reviewed journals.
  • For a tenured appointment: intellectual leadership, impact on the field, and potential significant contributions to the department and the wider scholarly community.
Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Successful teaching in a postsecondary paralegal program as substantiated by student assessments.
  • Experience working as an attorney with paralegals.
  • Experience integrating writing, technology, and critical thinking skills into paralegal instruction.
  • Successful use of technology to support instruction.
  • Knowledge of the application process and standards for ABA approval of paralegal education programs.
