Position Overview

Loyola University New Orleans Department of Counseling invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position beginning Fall 2025. The department is CACREP accredited in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling. The candidate will lead the development of a new CACREP-accredited Addictions Counseling program with faculty support.

Department Mission

Responsibilities
  • Lead development of a CACREP-accredited Addictions Counseling program
  • Teach master's level courses in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (3-3 load), including summer teaching opportunities
  • Engage in scholarly research and publication
  • Participate in professional and community service
  • Supervise and advise students
  • Assist with recruitment and retention efforts
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
  • Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program
  • Evidence of an active research agenda
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Professional Counselor in Louisiana
  • Relevant experience in Mental Health and/or Addictions Counseling
  • Sustained memberships in counseling organizations
  • Current certifications/licenses in counseling
Preferred
  • Experience teaching Addictions and Multicultural Counseling
  • Experience teaching courses like Research Methods, Assessment, Psychopathology, Diagnosis, Practicum/Internship
  • Effective teaching and mentoring skills
  • Experience with diverse faculty and students
