San José State University’s School of Information seeks an Assistant Professor of Cultural Heritage Informatics, AI/Digital Transformation, and Critical Technology Studies to begin August 2027. The candidate will advance research on how AI, information, and cultural heritage intersect, contributing to online and on-campus programs and promoting social equity.

We welcome applicants who address diverse student populations, collaborate across disciplines, and pursue external funding opportunities

Qualifications

Earned doctorate in Library and Information Science, Information Studies, Informatics, Archives, Museum Studies, Digital Humanities, Science and Technology Studies, Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
Demonstrated expertise in cultural heritage collections, archives, libraries, museums, information systems, or related information environments.
Evidence of scholarship, teaching, or professional practice related to digital transformation, emerging technologies, or critical technology studies.

Responsabilités

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses that may include the following titles (and potentially others): Archives and Records Management, Cultural Heritage Informatics, Critical Technology Studies, Information Ethics and the Social Impacts of AI, Technology Policy and Governance.
Contribute across multiple graduate programs and support the School's tradition of online education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and socially engaged information practice.
Participate in service activities that support the School, University, profession, and broader information community.
