Description

Wiley University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems. The Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems is a full-time position responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Computer Information Systems, conducting scholarly research, and engaging in service activities within the School of Business and the university community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching, a commitment to scholarly inquiry, and a willingness to contribute to the academic and intellectual life of the university. The Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems reports to the Dean of Business and Social Sciences and works closely with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders to advance the department's mission and goals.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:
1. Develop and deliver undergraduate courses in Business Administration- Computer Information Systems, which may include Management Information Systems, Problem Solving and Introduction to Programming with Java, Database Systems Management, Web-based Business Applications, Visual Basic Applications, Network Design and Implementation and other areas of specialization.
2. Employ effective pedagogical strategies, instructional technologies, and active learning techniques to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
3. Teach a minimum of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester.
4. Hold required office hours and updated the course shell in the LMS (Canvas)
5. Contribute to departmental and university service activities, including committee assignments, curriculum development, assessment, and academic governance.
6. Participate in outreach initiatives, such as Everyone Can Code partnerships, and community engagement programs, to promote Information Systems awareness and appreciation.
7. Stay current with developments in the field of Computer Information Systems through ongoing scholarship, professional networking, and participation in conferences, workshops, and seminars. Seek opportunities for professional growth, such as obtaining teaching certifications, acquiring new research skills, or developing expertise in emerging areas of Computer Information Systems.
8. Collaborate with colleagues within the Accounting, Management and Organizational Management departments and across other disciplines to foster interdisciplinary research and teaching collaborations.
9. Contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives and interdisciplinary research projects that bridge Computer Information Systems with other fields of study.

Qualifications

A doctorate in Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or evidence of completion of all course work at the doctoral level, i.e., ABD with completion of dissertation within six months is required. Must have a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the relevant teaching discipline. Three to five years of teaching experience and research in related field. Familiarity or experience with various teaching strategies is highly desirable. Experience with online instruction is also desirable. Must demonstrate active involvement in scholarly activities in addition to teaching; must be committed to teaching undergraduate students in an ethnically diverse environment and experienced in cutting-edge uses of information technology to
advance learning.
