The College of Education (COE) at Gardner-Webb University seeks a strong candidate for a tenure-track faculty position teaching curriculum and instruction in Exceptional Children's/special education. The 9-month tenure-track position will start on August 1, 2025.

Required Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialty in Special Education/Exceptional Children/ or a related field and a strong record of scholarly research and/or K-12 leadership experience
  • Demonstrate knowledge of school district-level special education, exceptional child, reading, and literacy practices
  • Served in public K-12 setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • A research/scholarship portfolio in K-12 curriculum and instruction, reading, literacy, academically gifted or related K-12 experience
  • Science of Reading Certification or eligibility for the Science of Reading Certificate
  • Experience with online and hybrid teaching and course development
  • Experience with university teaching
  • Served in public K-12 leadership roles as a school or central office personnel

Teaching, Research, and Service Assignments

  • Teach 12 credit hours per semester
  • Teach exceptional children’s courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Provide service to the College of Education, University, community, and academic profession
  • Supervise student teachers
  • Conduct research and scholarly activities to enhance the COE academic climate
