Job description

SUMMARY:

This is a physician faculty position reporting to the Chair of the Department of Neuro Oncology, who reports to the Head of the Division of Cancer Medicine. The position will also be responsive to the Section Chief of Cancer Neurology.

GENERAL DUTIES:

Provides expertise in neurology and clinical neurophysiology, including conducting neurophysiological testing and interpretation for EMG/NCS. Performs EMG/NCS to diagnose neuropathies, plexopathy, neuromuscular junction disorders, and myopathies. Offers consultations for neurological disorders, including complications of cancer and treatment-related neurotoxicities. Participates in teaching neurooncology fellows, neurology residents, and medical students. Engagement in academic activities and clinical research related to neurological complications of cancer is encouraged.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Fellowship training in clinical neurophysiology focusing on peripheral nerve and neuromuscular disorders. MD or DO degree, board certification in Neurology and/or neuromuscular/neurophysiology. Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in Texas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide clinical neurophysiological expertise in EMG/NCS and manage patients with peripheral nerve and neuromuscular disorders. Additional EEG/IOM training is desirable.
  2. Deliver inpatient and outpatient care for cancer patients with neurological complications.
  3. Develop and maintain a neurophysiology/cancer neurology practice. Provide physician staffing, review ICD-10 and CPT coding, approve charge documents, and complete medical documentation promptly. Communicate with referring physicians regarding patient care. Stay current with management approaches through continuing education.
  4. Engage in clinical research and scholarly activities. Provide educational experiences for residents, fellows, and students. Attend departmental and institutional meetings, serving on committees as needed.
  5. Represent the Department of Neuro Oncology in professional forums and at conferences, including travel as required.
  6. Practice according to standards set by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners and the American College of Physicians.
  7. Serve as a role model for faculty, fellows, residents, students, APNs, and PAs.
  8. Provide peer review for clinical practice assessment within the department.
  9. Work effectively within a team, maintaining close interpersonal relationships with colleagues, patients, and staff.

Compensation includes a target salary of $259,232 to $317,275, with eligibility for incentives, benefits, and relocation support.
