Job summary

Responsibilities

• Provide general nephrology practice and transplant nephrology care.
• Mentor trainees and junior faculty in research and career development.
• Participate in departmental meetings and committees at program, college, and university levels.
• Lead and participate in resident, fellow, and medical student education.
• Engage in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Demonstrate initiative to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.

A full-time faculty position is available in theDepartment of Department of Internal Medicine, Division ofNephrology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.Duties for this faculty appointment will include contributing tothe clinical/patient care, research and teaching missions of thedivision.

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division ofNephrology is recognized regionally and nationally for leadingand/or contributing to cutting-edge research, and advancing theknowledge about kidney diseases to patients, peers, and trainees.The division offers an exciting array of training opportunities inNephrology, including enhanced training in transplantation,dialysis, quality improvement, and patient safety.

Essential Functions

• This individual will contribute to the in-patient andout-patient clinical/patient care, research, and teaching missionsof the division and will include both transplant and generalnephrology practice.
• Clinical/patient care responsibilities will includegeneral nephrology practice.
• Encompass an active role in departmental fellowshipprograms, resident, and medical student teaching.
• Dialysis rounding across the tri-state area (IN, OH,KY)
• Precepting of fellows, medical students and/or residentsin an office-based practice as well as providing lectures orleading small group discussions as part of the COM or residencycurriculum, clinical case conferences, core curricula and journalclubs.
• Mentor trainees and junior faculty in research and careerdevelopment, participate in graduate and medical education, andcontribute to academic service.
• Participate in departmental meetings and serves oncommittees at the program, college, and universitylevels
• Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities forgrowth and improvement, actively contributing to solution-drivendialogue that advances the division's clinical, educational, andresearch missions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• MD or equivalent medical degree.
• Ohio medical license.
• Completion of three-year Internal Medicineresidency.
• Completion of two-year nephrology fellowshipprogram.
