The Department of Civil Engineering & Construction Management at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in Construction Management at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate will teach Construction Management courses, both at the undergraduate and graduate level and have research interests in Construction Management and/or Construction Engineering or a related field. Responsibilities include advisement of undergraduate students, supervision of graduate students, active participation in curriculum development, assessment and accreditation, and other departmental activities. Participation in professional student organizations may also be required.

In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate may be required to teach on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and/or online and will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department for recommending tenure and promotion.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. and B.S. in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution. ABD candidates will be considered but must complete the doctoral degree by August 15, 2025.
  • Teaching experience in Construction Management or Civil Engineering related courses at the College/University level, as an instructor of record or teaching assistant or demonstrated strong teaching potential in their teaching statement.
  • Evidence of, or clear potential for, successful scholarly and/or creative development and sustained publication or exhibition in the last 5 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Evidence of effective engagement OR potential to engage with a diverse student body.
  • Experience using culturally responsive pedagogy that leads to equitable outcomes for all students.
  • Experience creating a student-centered learning environment.
  • Research/Lab experience that includes working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience adopting inclusive approaches to mentoring.
  • At least 3 years of industry experience in construction management or construction engineering.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching courses in construction management or construction engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research in the field of construction management or construction engineering.
  • Participation in grant proposal preparation either as PI or Co-PI.
