Job summary

The Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies at San José State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor with a specialization in Chicanx/Latinx Experiences, Law, and Policy, beginning in August 2027.

The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and graduate curricula, teaching courses such as Chicanx/Latinx Communities and the Law, Public Policy and Chicanx Experiences, and related topics, while engaging in scholarly research and service in a diverse,

Qualifications

PhD completed by time of appointment.
Ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Chicana and Chicano Studies, especially in law and policy.
Strong scholarly research agenda focusing on intersections of Chicanx/Latinx communities with legal and policy systems.
Commitment to equity and serving diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

Develop and sustain an active research and teaching program focused on Chicanx/Latinx communities, law, and public policy.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Chicana and Chicano Studies, contribute to curriculum development, and advise students.
Engage in service and governance within department, college, and university committees and activities.
Organize all classes within the Canvas LMS.
Demonstrate inclusive teaching practices for a diverse student body.
