Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine’s Department of Cellular, Molecular and Genetic Medicine seeks two junior faculty members at the Assistant Professor level in Biomedical AI and Computational Molecular Medicine.

Successful candidates will develop independent, externally funded research programs applying AI, machine learning, and computational biology to pressing molecular medicine problems.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent in computer science, computational biology, biomedical data science, bioinformatics, biostatistics, statistics, or related field.
• Strong research productivity and potential for external funding.
• Expertise in AI, ML, computational biology, or quantitative modeling.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams across CMGM and School of Medicine.
• Willingness to collaborate with CMGM, Massey Cancer Center, and Wright Center.
• Commitment to an inclusive, respectful academic environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop rigorous, externally funded research programs in Biomedical AI and Computational Molecular Medicine.
• Publish high-impact research and build collaborative programs across basic, translational, clinical, and computational investigators.
• Contribute to graduate and professional education and participate in service activities.
