Job description

The Department of Surgery, Division of Transplant Surgery at the University of Washington invites applications for a faculty position at the ranks of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor, without tenure (WOT), by reason of funding with an anticipated start date of Summer 2027. The successful candidate will be expected to support the department's commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month appointment (3-year term renewable for Assistant Professor) beginning Summer 2027.

The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor, $30,000 - $33,334 per month ($360,000 – $400,008 annually), Associate Professor, $37,500 - $45,417 per month ($450,000 – $545,004 annually), Professor $45,834 - $58,334 ($550,008 - $700,008 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through UWP.

Other compensation associated with this position, Total Compensation, may include incentive through UWP. The total compensation ranges listed below represent total cash compensation potential and may include relocation (if applicable), base salary, clinical productivity incentives, administrative stipends, and other applicable compensation associated with the position. Actual compensation will be commensurate with the selected candidate's experience, qualifications, clinical activity, academic responsibilities, and overall contributions.

Estimated annual total compensation ranges are:

  • Assistant Professor: $410,000 - $450,000 Associate Professor: $500,000 - $595,000 Professor: $625,000 - $775,000

The primary site of practice will be at UW Medical Center – Montlake (UWMC-ML), approximately 70% of clinical time, with the remaining clinical deployment at Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH). The successful candidate will participate in surgical transplantation procedures, clinics, candidate selection, pre and post operative care, and donor organ evaluation and recovery at both practice locations. The responsibilities also include full participation in the standard call schedule (adult and pediatric) on all abdominal organ systems. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Additional responsibilities include engagement in the selection and training of residents and fellows.

  • MD degree (or foreign equivalent) Board eligibility (or foreign equivalent) by the American Board of Surgery, inclusive of completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) Eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
