The position (40% instruction, 60% Research) is a nine-month, tenure-track position. Instructional needs will be based on current and future courses aimed at preparing students within the field of Animal Reproductive Physiology (Livestock Systems), as well as on other departmental instructional needs aligned with the applicant’s area of expertise. The projected start date is August 1, 2027.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will develop an innovative, externally funded, and nationally recognized research and teaching program focused on reproductive physiology in livestock species. The specific focus of the research program will be aligned with the incumbent’s expertise, interests, and ability to secure extramural funding. The successful candidate is expected to develop a nationally recognized reproductive physiology program utilizing cell-based, tissue-based, and/or whole-animal physiological models to address critical challenges in animal reproduction.

Areas of emphasis may include, but are not limited to, reproductive endocrinology and physiology, gametogenesis, embryonic and placental development, pregnancy establishment and loss, sperm biology, and reproductive biotechnology. The successful candidate is expected to develop a research program that advances reproductive biology while improving the efficiency of food animal production systems.

Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate instruction in reproductive physiology and related upper-level animal sciences courses, as well as development and delivery of graduate-level coursework in reproductive physiology, reproductive management, and advanced reproductive technologies. The successful candidate will contribute to the curriculum, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and participate in high-impact learning experiences that prepare students for careers in animal agriculture, biotechnology, research, and professional programs.
