Caldwell University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of 3-D Design and New Media. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty appointment beginning in the Fall 2025 semester. We seek a full-time, tenure track faculty who has expertise in sculpture and 3D design that combines technology and digital fundamentals. Candidates must be able to incorporate digital technologies such as 3D modeling, digital sculpting, and digital fabrication. Ideal candidates will also be able to teach digital photography. Candidates should be willing to update and create new courses, which may entail working with faculty, to create a forward-looking curriculum. Candidates are expected to maintain an active creative practice and keep current with developments in order to provide students with the skills necessary for success. Candidates should be committed to teaching and engaging with students at various skill levels. The successful candidate will have the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues and university administration.

Job Requirements

  • Must have a terminal degree: MFA.
  • Possess knowledge of both traditional and contemporary sculpture practices.
  • Must be proficient in 3D sculpting, design, and digital modeling.
  • Expected to participate in department, school, and all-faculty meetings, critiques, and activities including open houses, convocation, commencement, etc.

Applicants must submit a curriculum vitae, cover letter specifying interest in the position and qualifications, transcript from institution of highest degree, and a list of three professional references including complete contact information.

Please also submit a statement of teaching philosophy and a statement of artistic practices and goals. Please attach a digital portfolio (as PDF) or a link to a digital portfolio of graphic/digital work. This portfolio should include twenty images of design work labeled with the title, date, media, and dimensions. Please attach a digital portfolio (as PDF) or a link to a digital portfolio of twenty images of student work labeled with the title of the project, the class it was created for, date, and media.
