The Department of English at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for an Assistant Professor of U.S. literature from the nineteenth century with a desired secondary area in Queer Theory to begin on July 1, 2027. The candidate should be prepared to teach and advise on texts from the nineteenth into the twentieth century.

Applicants should have a robust research agenda and demonstrated teaching in 19th century U.S. literature and Queer Theory.

Qualifications

• PhD must be completed by July 1, 2027.
• Ability to teach 19th/20th century U.S. literature.
• Strong research and teaching record in English literature and queer theory.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to undergraduate and graduate programs in English.
• Teach and advise students on texts from 19th and 20th century U.S. literature.
• Participate in the university’s Core Humanities Program.
• Maintain an active program of research in the field.
