  • 2 half-day clinics per week in HIV care at Thomas Street at Quentin Mease Health Center, Harris Health, when not rounding
  • Provide medical leadership to the outpatient antibiotics therapy program for Ben Taub Hospital

Job description

The Department of Medicine is seeking an Infectious Diseases physician for the Harris Health practice. With 14 sections, 10 centers, and six vice-chair groups, the Margaret M. and Albert B. Alkek Department of Medicine is the largest adult practice department at Baylor College of Medicine. We areone of the largest education programs in the US with more than 700 trainees, and highly competitive specialty fellowship training programs, including seven federally funded research training grants. Our healthcare providers see hundreds of thousands of patients in seven inpatient and outpatient facilities and our department’s clinical excellence is recognized in U.S. News and World Report. Our departmental research initiatives span the continuum of biomedical research from basic to clinical, attracting $128 million in total extramural funding, including more than $72 million from the NIH as well as other federal sources. The Infectious Diseases Harris Health practice sees patients with a wide variety of infectious diseases including general infectious diseases, complex surgical infections, tropical medicine, and HIV infection at Ben Taub Hospital, Smith Clinic, and Thomas Street at Quentin Mease Health Center.

Job Duties
  • 13 weeks of inpatient rounding at Ben Taub Hospital on the Infectious Diseases consult service

Minimum Qualifications
  • BC/BE Infectious Diseases
  • Eligible for a license to practice medicine in the State of Texas
  • Current or in progress DEA certificate
  • Authorized to work in the US without need for visa sponsorship

The ideal candidate is patient-centered and committed to excellence in providing quality care in an inpatient and outpatient setting and will have training or experience with an outpatient antibiotic therapy program. The position includes engaging in scholarly activities and participating in the education mission by supervising and training medical students, residents, and fellows. Incoming academic rank will be based on previous academic and clinical experience. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without need for visa sponsorship. Not a J-1 visa opportunity.
