Job summary

  • Assist in curriculum and program assessment, evaluation, revisions and development.
  • Assist in PA program evaluation, assessment, and accreditation.
  • Assist in clinical skills training sessions.
  • Perform research/scholarly activities.
  • Assist in service related to the program, college, university and outside activities.

Job Summary

This is a College of Health Sciences – Master Physician Assistant is a Faculty-level position within Western University of Health Sciences and is offered in conjunction with an administrative appointment. Together, the faculty role of Assistant Professor ( PCN F03517) and the administrative appointment ( PCN 999175) comprise a full-time position (1.0 FTE ). The salary range listed in this posting does not represent the total compensation for the combined administrative and faculty responsibilities. Please refer to the corresponding job posting for details on the additional assignment.

Under the general direction of the Department Chair, the Assistant Professor of the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Education is responsible for providing education and supervision to Physician Assistant Students. To develop, implement, evaluate, and assess PA curriculum.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Knowledge of the laws and regulations relating to the practice of Physician Assistants.
  • Knowledge of the skills and tasks that are performable by a primary care Physician Assistant.
  • Effective skills in oral and written communication.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program; and possessing a master’s degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant; or One year of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant with a Master’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to individuals possessing a doctorate degree and to individuals with teaching experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation and delivery of a course with a prescribed curriculum that includes assignments, preparation, delivery, and grading of examinations and other activities needed for a course.

Work Schedule
  • M-F; 8 AM – 5 PM.
  • Some evenings and weekends as needed for events.
