We’re looking for an Assistant Production Manager – Maintenance to oversee residential mow routes and lead our annuals program. If you thrive in a dynamic environment where horticultural knowledge and leadership skills are essential, this role is for you!

This is a fully on-site role.
Typical hours of operation are 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Excellence (25%)

  1. Inspect and ensure equipment and crews meet safety and quality standards before leaving the yard.
  2. Conduct site visits and audits to maintain Hidden Creek standards and ensure client satisfaction.
  3. Provide hands-on training in equipment operation, pruning, planting techniques, and safety protocols.
  4. Lead weekly safety meetings and monitor compliance with safety records and procedures.
  5. Refine production rates and set crew goals based on safety, quality, and efficiency standards.

Resource Management (30%)

  1. Schedule crews with attention to hours, geography, equipment availability, and client preferences.
  2. Track and report on job costing, gross margins, and actual vs. estimated hours weekly.
  3. Manage annuals program, including purchasing, inventory, installation, and waste minimization (10% or less).
  4. Dispatch crews with clear job scopes and proper equipment, ensuring efficient project execution.

Sales Support and Customer Experience (15%)

  1. Assist the sales team with estimating and provide updates on project progress.
  2. Proactively recommend enhancements and maintain client relationships through site visits and surveys.
  3. Order and track materials while monitoring costs and deliveries.

Team Development (15%)

  1. Train and mentor crew members, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
  2. Oversee onboarding for new hires and ongoing training for existing staff.
  3. Partner with the Operations Manager to document performance-related matters and develop future leaders.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, landscape management, or related field preferred; minimum of 3+ years in landscaping or maintenance management.
  2. Horticultural Expertise: Strong knowledge of plant care, pruning, and installation techniques.
  3. Leadership: Proven ability to lead, train, and develop teams while fostering a culture of accountability.
  4. Organizational Skills: Exceptional scheduling, resource management, and attention to detail.
  5. Technical Skills: Proficiency in industry software (e.g., LMN), MS Office, and familiarity with regional building codes.
  6. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client interactions and team collaboration.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  1. Employee will work in both an office and field environment; travel from site to site; exposure to computer screens.
  2. Employee will be required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time; operate motorized vehicles.
  3. Employee will regularly be required to see in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and regularly required to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
