Position Overview

Our partner is seeking an Assistant Production Manager to support the Production Manager within a manufacturing environment. This position provides an opportunity for career advancement and is well suited for someone with a strong manufacturing background.

Candidates with automotive manufacturing experience are preferred. A college degree is helpful but not required, provided the candidate meets the relevant manufacturing and supervisory experience requirements.

The Assistant Production Manager is responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Production department. The position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, including training employees, planning and assigning work, directing production activities, evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise production activities to ensure manufactured products meet or exceed all applicable requirements.
• Establish manufacturing priorities based on established production schedules.
• Interpret specifications and make appropriate judgments regarding the acceptability of production in process.
• Implement safety programs to promote a safe working environment for individuals in the area.
• Ensure product quality requirements are consistently maintained.
• Assist employees with problem solving and exercise considerable judgment when addressing production issues.
• Direct routine equipment maintenance and setup activities.
• Coordinate with other supervisory personnel to align activities throughout the plant.
• Report machine and equipment malfunctions and take appropriate corrective action.
• Inspect products to verify conformance with specifications.
• Follow production schedules and estimate work-hour requirements necessary to complete assigned jobs.
• Communicate company policies to workers and enforce applicable safety regulations.
• Establish or adjust work procedures as necessary to meet production schedules.
• Recommend improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
• Analyze and resolve work-related problems or assist employees in resolving production issues.
