Job summary

MDS Staffing seeks an experienced Production Control & Materials Assistant Manager to support production planning, material management, inventory control, and operational coordination in a new manufacturing facility about to launch operations.

You will lead daily scheduling, manage WIP and raw materials, partner with purchasing and warehousing, and ensure ERP/MRP data accuracy. The role requires hands-on leadership across shifts and a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, operations, or related field preferred; equivalent manufacturing experience will be considered.
• 5+ years of experience in production control, material planning, inventory management, or manufacturing operations.
• Supervisory/assistant management experience in manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of production scheduling, MRP, inventory control, and manufacturing workflows.
• Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems; SAP and MES experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the development and execution of daily and weekly production schedules based on demand, material availability, and capacity.
• Monitor production performance against schedules and coordinate adjustments to minimize disruptions.
• Collaborate with production leadership to set priorities, resolve scheduling conflicts, and maintain efficiency.
• Support development and implementation of production planning procedures and performance metrics.
• Coordinate material planning and availability to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
• Identify and resolve material shortages, supplier delays, and inventory discrepancies with purchasing/warehouse teams.
• Oversee WIP, raw materials, and finished goods inventory accuracy.
• Support inventory optimization to reduce excess stock and improve material flow.
• Establish and maintain inventory tracking and control procedures.
• Oversee accurate production orders, material transactions, inventory movements, and production confirmations within ERP/MRP systems.
• Utilize SAP, MES, or comparable systems to monitor schedules, material requirements, and inventory levels.
• Analyze production and inventory data to identify discrepancies and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and maintain production reports, inventory metrics, and operational performance indicators.
• Assist the Production Control & Materials Manager with daily operations and cross-shift coordination.
• Support the development of SOPs, workflows, and inventory management processes during facility start-up.
• Provide direction to production control and materials personnel, ensuring accountability and adherence to procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve operational challenges and improve efficiency.
• Promote safety, quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
• Monitor customer delivery requirements and coordinate production and material readiness for on-time shipments.
• Identify delays or risks and implement corrective actions with management.
• Track KPIs related to schedule attainment, inventory accuracy, material availability, and delivery performance.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
