Job summary

Albertsons Companies is seeking an Assistant Produce Department Manager in Williston, VT. You will oversee daily Produce operations, ensure freshness and presentation, and support merchandise and inventory control to drive sales.

You will lead a team, train associates, manage labor schedules, uphold food safety standards, and partner with store leadership to deliver market-fresh produce customers can trust every day.

Qualifications

  • Experience in retail produce or grocery a plus.
  • Ability to lift, move, and stock product in coolers or displays.
  • Flexibility to work weekends/holidays as needed.
  • Strong adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily Produce Department operations with focus on freshness, quality, and customer service.
  • Assist with merchandising programs, planograms, seasonal sets, and promotional displays.
  • Supervise and train associates, develop labor schedules, and manage performance.
  • Maintain attractive, clean, and fully stocked produce displays; manage rotation and shrink.

Main responsibilities:
  • Help oversee daily operations of the Produce Department with a focus on freshness, quality, and customer service
  • Deliver knowledgeable, friendly service and ensure associates demonstrate strong product knowledge
  • Assist with executing corporate merchandising programs, planograms, seasonal sets, and promotional displays
  • Maintain full, fresh, clean, and visually appealing produce displays at all times
  • Assist with managing product rotation, remove damaged or unsellable items, and maintain freshness standards
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, inspection, and store product following food safety and rotation guidelines
  • Help with managing shrink through inventory controls, root‑cause identification, and waste‑reduction strategies
  • Assist with building and managing labor schedules aligned with business needs
  • Assist with training, coaching, and developing produce associates while maintaining a positive team environment
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, safety, and company operational standards
  • Perform Product Department duties as needed and assume responsibility for department operations in the absence of the Produce Manager

  • Produce handling, rotation, and freshness standards

  • Store systems and inventory tools
Abilities:
  • Ability to review sales, shrink, and inventory data to drive results
  • Ability to train and develop associates
  • Ability to lift, move, and stack product and work in coolers and refrigerated environments
