Job Description
IMPORTANT NOTE: Candidates selected for the Assistant Chemical Engineer position will be appointed on a provisional basis and must pass the civil service examination to be considered for permanent employment. Failure to pass or be reached on the list will result in termination.
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) manages water supply, wastewater, and pollution reduction for New York City. DEP operates 19 reservoirs, 3 lakes, and employs nearly 6,000 staff.
The Bureau of Wastewater Treatment (BWT) oversees sewage treatment facilities across the five boroughs, including 14 treatment plants, sludge facilities, collection systems, laboratories, and harbor vessels.
