Job summary

Rocketship Public Schools seeks an Assistant Principal of Innovation to lead the day-to-day execution of a new instructional model at an Innovation School opening Fall 2026 within an existing Rocketship campus.

Reporting to the Director of Innovation School, the role drives data analysis, coaching, and collaboration with teachers, tutors, and instructional staff to translate the school’s vision into practice.

Qualifications

• BA from an accredited university.
• CA teaching credential or ability to transfer to CA.
• 3+ years of experience teaching in an urban city classroom with measurable gains.
• Deep knowledge of elementary instruction and planning.
• Strong comfort with data and systems.
• Experience with innovative instructional approaches (personalized, project-based, or competency-based).
• Strong leadership and high expectations for student achievement.
• Ability to engage and empower parents and families; experience building school culture.

Responsibilities

• Develop a rigorous, college-preparatory culture in every classroom.
• Coach teams to build subject area expertise and implement new instructional approaches.
• Lead data-driven instruction and assessments to personalize learning.
• Oversee onboarding and rotations as the new model is implemented and refined.
• Monitor student mastery and engagement daily; identify strengths and gaps with the Director.
• Engage families through home visits, community meetings, and family partnerships.
• Collaborate with Special Education to maximize inclusive instruction.
