Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Educational Leadership with Certification
• Minimum of three years of successful public school teaching experience
• Administrative experience or curriculum/instruction experience preferred

Vision for Position The Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction is a deliberate coach and effective manager responsible for helping teachers and students realize their full potential. The Assistant Principal evaluates and provides leadership for the instructional program of the high school. This person is knowledgeable about best pedagogical practices and provides for the development, alignment, and implementation of quality curriculum to enhance student achievement. The Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction is a highly-effective educator who is a critical thinker and innovative problem solver with a high level of emotional intelligence.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for oversight of curriculum maps, updates, and alignment
• Supports PLCs with useful data to inform teaching
• Power School, Performance Matters, and Google support/training for teachers
• Instructional coach for new teachers; conducts new teacher meetings
• Serves as test coordinator for state and local testing
• Teacher Evaluator – Instructional coaching and walkthrough observation
• Student Supervision and Leadership: on campus, athletics, dances, activities
• 301 Performance Pay Plan Coordinator – teacher collaboration, 301 training, SMART goal coordinating, teacher website facilitation, coordinate quarterly check-in with each certified teacher, maintain documentation
• Assist with School Improvement Planning (Accreditation, applications, response to Governing Board initiatives)
• Attend and/or facilitate site meetings as requested
• Assist Grants Manager with data collection and activity coordination
• SIP (School Improvement Plan) and review/revision of annual Title I goals
• Presentation of instructional strategies, etc.
• Schedule and Coordinate Professional Development based on current structure
• Work with teachers to find and pursue PD opportunities
• Participate in all staff meetings
• Oversight and follow-up with staff for attendance at in-service and staff meetings
• Build and maintain collaborative and supporting working relationships with teachers and support staff
• Assistance with supervision of staff
• Leadership and support with classroom instruction
• Leadership in training staff in classroom management techniques and engagement strategies
• Attendance and visibility at parent meetings and extracurricular events
• Work with counseling and teachers to provide information to families about summer session
• Communicate with food service and transportation regarding services during summer session
• Handle discipline and safety and communication needs during summer session
