Reports to: Academy Park High School Principal

Job Summary:

The Principal is responsible for the entire management and leadership of the school. This position will perform the administrative functions specified by school law, board policy and directives set by the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent. The duties shall include maintaining a safe and positive school climate for learning to be conducted for students, teachers, support staff and volunteers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and support for the educational programs approved for the school.
  • Supervise the activities of school professional and non-professional staff members in the performance of their duties. Provide direction and monitor the volunteers.
  • Supervise the instructional staff in development and implementation of curriculum and student activities.
  • Prepare and submit local, state and federal reports.
  • Implement programs for public relations in order to further the community’s understanding and support of the educational program.
  • Design, create and implement the fiscal budget for the school.
  • Develop an effective and efficient schedule and supervise the preparation of pupil and teacher schedules.
  • Participate in school programs as they relate to the needs of the school or district.
  • Reflect the positive image of an educational leader for the community and the school district, and is an advocate with the community and other organizations.
  • Monitor and provide guidance in the areas of curriculum design and development, so that new standards can be achieved and maintained.
  • Maintain accountability to all faculty, support staff and students.
  • Encourage faculty to continue professional development and leadership within the school district.
  • Implement Board policies and administrative rules and regulations relating to the school’s function of operation, as directed.
  • Supervise and evaluate professional and support staff through conducting classroom observation and evaluations. Provide supervision for and mentor the Assistant Principals.
  • Address issues on student placements and programs for at-risk students. Serve as LEA representative in IEP meetings and special education placement meetings. Work with the school psychologist and Director of Special Education on IDEA regulations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.

  • Knowledge of Instructional Planning Guides as it relates to the instructional block
  • Knowledge of Digital Curriculum components
  • Ability to courageously lead conversations focused on equity, closing opportunity gaps, and equal access to technology-infused lessons of rigor.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with District staff and administrators, students, parents or guardians, outside agencies, and the public, in a multi-ethnic, multicultural, multilingual environment.
  • Ability to receive and implement feedback to improve practice and systems.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries and complaints.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups and board of directors.

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in education.
  • 5 years of teaching experience.
  • 3 years of experience serving inbuilding administration desired.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Certification: Principal K-12 required.

Pre-employment Requirements:

  • Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check, FBI fingerprinting Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
  • Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release (ACT 168)
  • School Personnel Health Record and TB test

Level of Compensation:Salary and benefits are set in accordance to the Act 93 agreement with the Board of School Directors. This is a full-time, 12 month exempt position.
