GCSD in Georgetown County seeks an Assistant Principal Pool (Middle) to support the principal in implementing district vision, managing day-to-day operations, and advancing student achievement.

Candidates will hold a Master’s in Educational Administration, SC administration certificates, and have at least five years of teaching experience, with strong communication and technology skills and a commitment to ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Educational Administration from an accredited college/university.
  • Valid SC teaching certificate in Elementary and/or Secondary Administration and/or copy of SC certification.
  • Valid SC administration certificate (in appropriate area).
  • At least five years of successful teaching experience (Elementary, Middle, and/or Secondary).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken interpersonal communication.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the principal in implementing procedures aligned to district vision, mission and goals.
  • Assist the principal in ensuring high-priority service to students and supporting academic learning.
  • Assist the principal in monitoring and evaluating student achievement results.
  • Assist the principal in coordinating school resources and maintaining safety.
  • Assist the principal with scheduling and daily operation of the school.

Job Title: Assistant Principal Pool (Middle)


Supervisor: Principal


FLSA: Exempt


Term of Employment: 220 days


Job Summary:


Supports the principal by exercising leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills that promote the educational development of each student, the professional development of each staff member, and the overall performance of the school.


Qualifications:



  • Master's Degree in Educational Administration From an accredited college or university

  • A valid South Carolina teaching certificate in Elementary and/or Secondary Administration / *Please provide a copy of your current SC certification

  • A Valid South Carolina administration certificate (in appropriate area)

  • At least five years of successful teaching experience (Elementary, Middle, and/or Secondary - in area of administrative certification preferred)

  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken interpersonal communication

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology

  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as district administration may find appropriate and acceptable


Essential Duties:



  • Assist the principal in implementing procedures and practices that ensure that the district's vision, mission, shared beliefs, and goals are conceptualized and aligned at the school level

  • Assist the principal in ensuring that the school and staff give high priority service to students, including taking responsibility for students' academic learning

  • Assist the principal in monitoring, analyzing, and evaluating the school's student achievement results

  • Assist the principal in evaluating and appraising the effectiveness of academic programs and the performance of the school staff as related to student achievement results

  • Assist the principal in coordinating the resources of the school, in supervising all school activities, and in maintaining the safety and welfare of students and employees

  • Assist the principal in developing an effective communication plan to keep staff members involved and informed about the school and related issues that affect them

  • Assist the principal in establishing, implementing, and evaluating procedures used to carry out the daily operation of the school

  • Models professionalism, civility and integrity in all dealings with colleagues, students, staff, parents, and the community

  • Follow district policies and administrative rules and regulations, as well as state and federal laws and regulations

  • Commit to continuous professional growth as an individual educator and assist the principal in providing activities that facilitate the professional growth of all school staff members

  • Assist the principal in maintaining discipline and dealing with special cases as necessary

  • Assume responsibility for coordinating support services and co-extracurricular services as directed

  • Assist the principal with the scheduling of classes within established guidelines to meet student needs

  • Assist the principal in ensuring that accurate school records are kept and safeguarded


Other Duties:


Perform other related tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.
