Job summary

The Sherman Early Childhood Center is a full-time Jewish preschool at Congregation Har Shalom in Potomac, MD. We are seeking a caring, nurturing assistant teacher to join a professional team and support learning through play and emergent curriculum.

Requirements include 1-3 years with ages 2-5, a 45 hour infant/toddler certification, and strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability. Monday to Friday, 8:15 am – 5:15 pm, with benefits provided.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience with ages 2-5.
• 45 hour infant/toddler certification.
• Creative, team player, excellent communicator, nurturing, dedicated, and flexible.
• Experience differentiating instruction for all learners.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the teaching team in planning, setting up, and implementing learning opportunities, using a child-centered, emergent curriculum.
• Follow all school, synagogue, and requirements set by the Office of Childcare, MD State Department of Education.
• Support the children's physical, emotional, social emotional, and special needs.
• Ensure the safety of all children with proper supervision and care.
• Support the school's educational philosophy, values, Jewish content, and the children's and family's experience.
• Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with the teaching team and leadership regarding the students, families, and the classroom.
• Support the classroom team in documentation of student progress, and incidents and be familiar with all student needs and health issues.
• Participate in all team meetings and family programming assigned, beyond school hours.
• Physical ability to care and insure the safety of all children including lifting, carrying, and running.
