Job summary

Who We’re Looking For

Shape young minds and build a better future by joining our team as an Assistant Preschool Teacher. The Assistant Preschool Teacher will work closely with the Lead Teacher to support the implementation of educational activities, maintain a safe and engaging classroom environment, and foster positive relationships with children and their families.

Essential Duties
  1. Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and activities.
  2. Prepare and organize classroom materials and supplies.
  3. Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  4. Follow outlined schedules and procedures.
  5. Help maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment.
  6. Provide individual and small group assistance to children as needed.
  7. Assist with toileting, diapering, and feeding as required.
  8. Observe and report any concerns about children's behavior or development to the Lead Teacher.
  9. Help implement positive behavior management techniques.
  10. Provide detailed documentation and communication regarding daily activities.
  11. Communicate effectively with the Lead Teacher and other staff members.
  12. Assist with parent communication, as directed by the Lead Teacher.
  13. Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
  14. Follow all program policies, safety rules, and Keystone STARS regulations.
Compensation

$34,000 - $40,000

Experience/Education Requirements
  1. Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience working with preschool or young children in a group setting (e.g., daycare, preschool, early intervention).
  2. Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a Child Development Associate (CDA).
  3. Compliance with all DHS child protective clearances.
  4. Current certifications in Pediatric First Aid and CPR.
  5. Pre-employment Physical and TB Test.
  6. Must be 18 years of age.

  1. Knowledge of child development principles.
  2. Ability to plan and facilitate engaging activities for different age groups.
  3. Ability to apply youth development frameworks and create a supportive and empowering environment for youth.
  4. Skilled in developing and implementing educational, recreational, and enrichment activities.
  5. Ability to think creatively, adapt to changing situations, and find innovative solutions.
  6. Excellent and effective written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills.
  7. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with youth, parents, and colleagues.
  8. Self-motivated, proactive professional; able to troubleshoot and problem solve efficiently.
  9. Ability to lead and work collaboratively with Activity Assistant to ensure program success.
  10. Ability to follow safety regulations and procedures, and maintain a safe and secure environment.
  11. Genuine enthusiasm for working with youth and a commitment to fostering their growth, development, and wellbeing.
