Base pay range

$19.46/hr - $19.46/hr

Summary

The Assistant Teacher works closely with the Lead Teacher in an integrated setting to carry out educational objectives and performance standards. Works as a team member with classroom staff and parents to implement curriculum that is meaningful and meets individual and program needs. May be reassigned to various classrooms/centers as necessary.

Duties

1. Assist with weekly preparation of lesson plans, including objectives for parents, volunteers, and visitors.
2. Develop individual plans for each child based on needs and goals.
3. Stay updated on Head Start Standards, child care regulations, and best practices.
4. Assist with mandated assessments and ongoing evaluations.
5. Schedule and document parent meetings, conferences, and home visits.
6. Take charge in the teacher's absence.
7. Encourage parent involvement in programs.
8. Support social/emotional development and positive discipline.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and CDA or enrolled in a CDA program, or an associate's/bachelor's degree or in an early childhood program.
• Experience with preschool children; ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Willing to obtain First Aid, CPR, and MAT certifications.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide culturally responsive customer service.
• Computer skills including MS Office, Google Docs, and online platforms.
• Acceptable health screening results and a valid driver’s license.
