What You'll Do:
  1. Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others to ensure all assigned plants have zero accidents and comply with all Vulcan policies and procedures.
  2. Organize and Plan Production. Plan the daily operation scheduling of plant production to ensure optimal utilization of the plant and equipment, personnel and inventory requirements, and work procedures regarding stripping, mining, processing, stockpiling, loading, and shipping. Maintain responsibility for all aspects of site planning and pit development.
  3. Manage Employee Relations. Provide strong leadership, training, team building, and supervision to all plant employees to support the business's operational function. Work cross-functionally with HR to recruit new employees, provide merit increases, perform disciplinary actions, and evaluate employee performance to develop talent.
  4. Monitor Processes and Materials. Analyze production and quality control to ensure a quality product for our customers. Monitor operational reports to ensure best practices in extraction, processing, stockpiling, and re-handling and that the product remains within target specifications. Implement and monitor a preventive maintenance program to limit work stoppages, downtime, or other disruptions.
  5. Ensure Economic Profit. Maintain responsibility for managing the plant's financial decisions, including budgets, forecasts, inventory management, and labor and capital planning. Ensure adherence to all budgets and financial goals. Identify improvement activities to reduce costs and improve operating efficiency across the plant.
  6. Maintain Compliance. Build a strong safety culture to ensure the plant's compliance with Vulcan's safety, operations, and environmental policies and procedures. Manage employees' health and safety to improve Vulcan's health and safety performance continuously.
Skills You’ll Need:
  1. Experience. Experience supervising production employees, preferably at an aggregate, sand/gravel, or asphalt plant, is preferred.
  2. Leadership and Management Skills. The ability to provide strong leadership and guidance to direct and indirect reports and motivate and maintain interpersonal relationships is required.
  3. Operational Knowledge. Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of rock and sand mining, ready-mix concrete and asphalt operations and equipment, MSHA regulations, engineering principles and procedures, and quality control systems and processes.
  4. Interpersonal Skills. Must be an excellent motivator and team builder. Must be able to form strong social relationships and effectively communicate with internal and external audiences.
  5. Financial Knowledge. Must possess knowledge and experience leading financial performance to established targets.
  6. Flexibility. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

  1. Salary Range. The base salary range for this role is between $101,400 and $141,690 annually. This range does not include our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider several factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
