Job Description
We’re partnering with a leading dairy manufacturing company that is hiring an Assistant Plant Manager to help lead plant operations in a high-volume dairy production environment.
This role is built for someone with strong experience in milk, cheese, dairy, cultured products, beverage, or similar food manufacturing. The right person understands plant operations, sanitation, food safety, quality, production, maintenance, warehousing, and cost control in a regulated manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Support daily operations across dairy processing, production, packaging, quality, maintenance, warehousing, shipping, safety, and sanitation
- Help set production priorities to meet safety, quality, service, and cost goals
- Review production, quality, maintenance, and operational reports to identify issues and drive corrective action
- Support compliance with GMP, food safety, sanitation, FDA, customer, and government requirements
- Lead continuous improvement efforts to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and plant performance
- Track and improve KPIs around safety, quality, production, waste, labor, cost, and service
- Support plant budgeting, expense control, capital projects, and month-end reporting
- Help oversee audits, customer visits, regulatory requirements, and plant compliance activity
- Lead, coach, and develop managers, supervisors, and plant staff
- Partner with the Plant Manager to improve culture, accountability, communication, and execution
- Drive safe working conditions and ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety standards
What They’re Looking For
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience
- Strong preference for dairy, cheese, milk, cultured products, beverage, or food manufacturing
- 2+ years of management experience
- Experience leading production teams, supervisors, or department managers
- Strong understanding of GMP, sanitation, food safety, quality systems, audits, and regulatory compliance
- Experience with plant KPIs, budgeting, cost control, labor planning, and continuous improvement
- Proven ability to improve results in quality, safety, service, productivity, and cost
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with production, quality, maintenance, warehouse, safety, and leadership teams
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
