Job description

Forest River, Inc., the Nation’s largest manufacturer of Recreational Vehicles, Cargo Trailers, Transit Buses, and Boats, has an immediate opening.

The Assistant Plant Manager will oversee Collins’ production operations, ensuring manufacturing processes are smooth and efficient. This role requires monitoring employees, organizing workflow, and understanding complex manufacturing operations, including general assembly, paint, welding, and fabrication. The goal is to optimize activities while minimizing costs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Align and champion Collins’ core values, including safety, quality, and delivery.
  • Set and communicate daily, weekly, and monthly goals to employees.
  • Schedule labor and assign tasks based on skill sets for production needs.
  • Delegate responsibilities, establish deadlines, and manage workflow.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and discipline employees as needed.
  • Complete Supervisor Standard Work daily and seek operational improvements.
  • Ensure safety and proper equipment use, scheduling maintenance accordingly.
  • Monitor production output and compliance with specifications.
  • Generate reports on performance and progress.
  • Identify efficiency issues and suggest improvements.
  • Onboard new employees, emphasizing safety procedures.
  • Enforce safety guidelines and company standards.
  • Conduct employee reviews at 90 days and annually.
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance processes.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
  • Five years of manufacturing experience with leadership responsibilities.
  • Proficient in using pneumatic and power tools safely.
  • Excellent communication skills across all personnel levels.
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to handle emergencies calmly.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards, including hazardous materials handling.
Additional Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business preferred.
  • Experience in specialty vehicle manufacturing and managing technical staff.
Physical Demands:

Must meet physical requirements such as standing, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs., and working in various postures. Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
