Assistant Plant Manager

About the Role

The Assistant Plant Manager will oversee site operations, process optimization, and maintenance and reliability programs at the factory. Responsibilities include ensuring the safe execution of routine maintenance and operations on all equipment, processes, and facilities. The role involves developing and implementing strategies within budget, contributing to organizational success by improving plant asset reliability through maintenance, continuous improvement of plant systems, predictive and preventive maintenance programs, failure investigation, root cause analysis, solution development, and project execution. Additionally, the role supports various factory and company initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and mentor department managers and personnel.
• Support career development plans and succession planning for key roles.
• Develop goals, provide coaching, and measure performance.
• Coordinate factory activities to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other metrics.
• Manage and optimize production processes to meet quality and output targets.
• Utilize MRP systems for effective inventory management.
• Champion plant safety programs and initiatives.
• Develop and execute department and plant KPIs.
• Develop plant-level programs and ensure adherence.
• Collaborate with stakeholders in Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Planning, and Scheduling.
• Manage budgets for operations and annual maintenance, including budget submissions and stewardship.
• Oversee reliability programs such as condition monitoring, PM/PdM, failure investigations, and root cause analysis.
• Develop and execute scope for inter-campaign and outage activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field (preferred).
• 10-15 years of experience in industrial manufacturing, with 3-5+ years in leadership roles.
• Experience as an Operations Manager, Plant Manager, or similar role.
• Food production background is a plus.
• Ability to interpret and apply results from preventive and predictive maintenance analyses.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for complex equipment issues.
• Excellent organizational skills with multitasking ability.
• Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
