From our locations in Jackson, WI, Fostoria, OH, Greenville, TX and Longwood, FL, we serve a wide variety of customer markets including distributors, co-ops, and retailers throughout the United States and internationally. Our company continues to grow and expand, which presents many new opportunities. Our Jackson, WI plant is seeking an experienced Assistant Plant Manager to join our team!

Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Plant Manager to support the daily operations of our fertilizer manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for assisting the Plant Manager in overseeing production, safety, quality control, and staff management to ensure efficiency and compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a background in manufacturing or industrial operations, and a commitment to continuous improvement in our processes and employee development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Plant Manager in overseeing daily plant operations, ensuring smooth and efficient production processes.
  • Plan production schedules, make assignments, and communicate with Shift Supervisors and Plant Staff.
  • Monitor production metrics, troubleshoot issues, and work with teams to maintain product quality and consistency.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall plant performance.
  • Work closely with maintenance teams to schedule and oversee equipment inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Assist in managing raw material and packaging material inventory, coordinating with procurement, and ensuring supply chain efficiency.
  • Coordinate warehouse operations and communicate with staff. Oversee general inventory, cycle counting, year-end inventory.
  • Communicate with Customer Service teams regarding orders status.
  • Enforce workplace safety procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare reports on production, safety, and operational efficiency for senior management.
  • Support hiring, training, and performance management of plant employees, fostering a culture of accountability and teamwork.
  • Serve as acting Plant Manager in their absence, making key operational decisions and ensuring continued efficiency.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Production Planning, or a related field (preferred but not required with extensive experience).
  • Minimum 3-7 years of experience in manufacturing or plant operations, preferably in fertilizer, chemical, or industrial production, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety protocols, and quality assurance standards.
  • Leadership experience with team supervision, training, and performance management.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong ability to learn and efficiently use ERP systems for production planning and processing.

  • Full-time position with competitive salary and benefits.

This position is on-site in a manufacturing environment with multiple buildings with exposure to chemicals, machinery, and varying temperatures. The essential functions of this position will require walking outdoors in all weather conditions to other buildings on the grounds to attend meetings, take breaks, and perform various tasks. Walking distance from the primary workspace to other buildings can be up to or exceed 200 feet away. This position will require lifting up to 50 lbs, sitting, standing, walking, seeing, hearing, reaching, reading, operating office equipment, and use of PPE including but not limited to wearing safety toe footwear and safety glasses in required areas.
