Summary Of Job
We are seeking a driven and experienced Assistant Plant Manager to lead daily production operations of (4) Product Focused Teams, and shipping/receiving, in a high-mix, fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is hands-on and results-oriented, focused on ensuring the efficient and effective execution of daily operations while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. The Assistant Plant Manager will work closely with Engineering, Quality and other support teams to resolve issues and optimize performance. The position reports to the Plant Manager and offers a growth path to full operations leadership.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all day-to-day operations across production and shipping & receiving, ensuring performance meets safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
- Directly supervise the Production Manager and Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, providing coaching, performance feedback, and development opportunities.
- Drive production execution and schedule adherence, identifying and eliminating roadblocks to maximize throughput and on-time delivery.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Quality other support departments to resolve technical or process issues affecting production.
- Use data and KPIs to monitor operational performance, identify inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
- Promote a high-performance culture through leadership, communication, and consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Partner with Maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Lead daily operations meetings and communicate expectations and progress clearly across all shifts.
- Apply lean manufacturing tools and problem-solving techniques to reduce waste and improve operational flow.
- Support new product launches and changes with effective planning and resource allocation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Manufacturing, Engineering, Business or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of production or operations management experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace or industrial coatings.
- Proven leadership experience managing frontline leaders and cross-functional production teams.
- Strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes, logistics, and production scheduling.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement tools.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead and influence at all levels.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and performance tracking tools.
- Exposure to AS9100, NADCAP, or other industry standards is beneficial.
DESIRED SKILLS: Certification in Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher preferred) or similar process improvement methods, experience with plating technologies or metal finishing operations is a plus. Familiarity with quality systems and engineering change processes.

Frequently exposed to high heat and humid conditions. Employee will be frequently exposed to loud sounds, below the OSHA permissible limits.
