Description

Pacor, located in Bessemer City, is looking for an Assistant Plant Manager to join their team. Pacor is a fabricator of insulation for a variety of industries. The role of the Assistant Plant Manager is to direct production activities at the Bessemer City plant under the supervision of the Production Manager in accordance with Pacor policies and procedures.

Directs production activities to ensure on-time shipment in a cost-effective manner consistent with customer specifications, ISO quality, and OSHA safety standards. Responsible for training & mentoring associates to meet production goals while focusing on safety, quality, on-time delivery & profitability. Work with the Production Manager & HR to maintain good management-associate relations, which includes working to resolve concerns and document issues.

The ideal candidate will possess intermediate computer skills, hands-on production experience, understand production planning, and have 3-5 years of supervisory experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

PRODUCTION PLANNING & CONTROL:
  • Coordinate schedule of material, manpower & machines to comply with customer due dates. Develop the production plan with input from material control/customer service team.
  • Ensure the proper recording of material transactions and labor time (work orders/Paylocity) in ERP system.
  • Drive quality in compliance with ISO SOP’s. Work with Production Mgr. on any Corrective Actions to find root cause and sustain corrections.
  • Work with maintenance to ensure production equipment is in good working order.
MANPOWER SUPERVISION:
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate staffing for production requirements including:
  • Training (Maintain Matrix) for Production Associates.
  • Timely feedback for Production Associates - Inform Production Mgr. for coaching feedback.
  • Proper documentation of disciplinary issues in coordination with HR and Production Mgr.
  • Maintain & increase efficiency through proper manpower utilization. Ensure associates meet or exceed production efficiency estimates.
  • Review & approve time and attendance under the supervision of HR and Production Manager.
  • Help sustain and improve associate morale.
SAFETY/QUALITY:
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and quality of the facility in accordance with company policies.
  • Participate in the safety committee. Perform daily toolbox talks and coordinate safety training including documentation as required.
  • Ownership of customer-driven quality requirement at facility.
  • Self-development including training in safety, quality & IT skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:
  • Previous manufacturing or machine operating experience.
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience.
  • CNC/Die press experience.
  • Opening/Closing Plant and related security measures.
EDUCATION &/or CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 6 Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.

PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • LEAN/6S experience required.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • ERP/MRP experience/skillset required.
  • ISO 9001-2015 Experience.
  • Adept communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with outside resources.
  • Willing and able to travel to other plant locations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical problems and adjust machines as needed.
  • Experience and ability to train associates on equipment and internal policies.
  • Ability to read a ruler within 1/16 inch accurately.
  • Basic math skills, including calculating linear/square footage and working with fractions.
  • Read/Understand blueprints.
