Darey Brands has two primary locations, in Sebastopol, CA and Turlock, CA, with approximately 120 employees across both sites. Darey Brands is wholly owned by Emmi Group. Role Overview:

The Assistant Plant Controller at Darey Brands' Meyenberg Goat Milk facility supports the financial oversight and performance tracking of the Turlock facility. This is a growth-oriented role ideal for a candidate with a foundational background in finance or cost accounting and an interest in developing strong cross-functional skills in a manufacturing environment. This is a full-time, exempt position which reports to the company-wide Controller, who will collaborate closely with plant operations, supply chain, and corporate finance.

Key Responsibilities:

·Support the standard costing process, variance tracking, and basic cost analysis under the direction of the Senior Plant Controller.

·Work in close coordination with production through daily review of plant activity, inventory adjustments and manufacturing orders to ensure accuracy.

·Help monitor and report on plant KPIs and variances versus budget or forecast.

·Monitor milk receiving and tracking of inventory, including at 3 rd party service providers. Work with Operations and Supply Chain teams to track and analyze inventory throughout the supply chain.

·Perform financial profitability analyses, such as price, volume, mix analysis by item.

·Assist in gathering data and preparing inputs for the budgeting and forecasting process (e.g., sales, production, capital plans).

·Support the tracking and reporting of capital expenditures and related project performance

·Ensure data accuracy and consistency for inventory valuation and monthly reconciliations in collaboration with the accounting team.

·Work with Supply Chain team to validate monthly inventory, including with 3PL providers. Analyze and report adjustments and results.

·Participate in continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives in collaboration with operations and finance.

· Provide basic reporting and insights on scrap, COPQ, labor efficiency, inventory movement, and cost drivers.

Required Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing or cost accounting principles.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups).
  • Ability to communicate clearly, take direction, and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability, with a willingness to vigorously investigate transactional discrepancies.
  • Extremely high attention to detail and accuracy in reporting and data entry.
  • Prior experience with and strong knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Openness to feedback and a continuous improvement mindset.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance from an accredited college or university.
  • 1–3 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with cost accounting is preferred.
  • CPA or CMA candidacy is a plus but not required

Essential Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements listed are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and key responsibilities of this position.

Frequent operation of computer and other office equipment, the ability to sit at a workstation for long periods of time, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, lift, twist, pull, push, carry, grasp, reach and stoop as need, and to occasionally lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions:

The noise level in the office is usually quiet to moderate.The employee primarily works in an office environment but is exposed to the production facility where the noise is moderate to loud and there is exposure to mechanical equipment.Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
