Job summary

The Plains Alliance Church in Plains, MT is seeking a full-time Assistant Pastor to support a growing ministry and lead in preaching, teaching, and pastoral care.

This role emphasizes applying biblical teaching, building teams, and developing leaders within a close-knit rural church community.

Qualifications

• Meets biblical elder qualifications (I Tim 3, Titus 1).
• Accredited and ordained in CMA or able to be accredited and ordained.
• Bachelor’s degree in Bible or ministry field preferred.
• Pastoral ministry experience in a local church (3+ years preferred).
• Ability to lead, problem-solve, manage conflict and raise up leaders.
• Self-starter with good time management; flexible and adaptable.
• Experience planning, preparing, and teaching Biblical lessons or sermons.

Responsibilities

• Fulfill typical pastor duties: funerals, weddings, communion, baptisms.
• Teach Biblical messages and provide spiritual guidance to the congregation.
• Help train and raise up leaders; support ministry growth and vision.

Plains Alliance Church, Plains, MT, is seeking a full-time Assistant Pastor for their growing ministry! Plains is a city of roughly 1,300 people, in a county with a population of approximately 14,000. Plains Alliance Church averages about 175 people and is finishing up a new addition linking their main building with their gym.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Meets the biblical qualifications of an elder in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1
• Accredited and ordained in the C&MA or able to be accredited and ordained
• A deep love for the local church
• A heart for the lost to come to faith in Christ (Locally and Globally)
• Bachelor’s degree in a Bible or ministry field preferred
• Served in pastoral ministry in a local church for a minimum of three years preferred
• Ability to make decisions, problem-solve, manage conflict, thrive in a team, and be able to raise up leaders
• Self-starter, good time management, flexible and adaptable
• Experience with planning, preparing, and teaching Biblical lessons or sermons

The Job Summary states, "We are looking for a man to help us continue to grow by fulfilling the call of Ephesians 4:11-12, that the role of pastors is to prepare the people for the work of ministry. This role is far more about training up people to do the work of ministry than it is about being the minister. Obviously, there is much of ministry in the process of this, and we believe it to be a Biblical perspective of ministry that we are desiring to work out."
