Job summary

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure track faculty position to coordinate pharmacy practice teaching laboratory and skills activities across the PharmD Program. The role is based on the rural campus in Delmarva and supports patient-centered education.

Qualifications

  • Pharmacist degree with eligibility for Maryland licensure.

Responsibilities

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) seeks a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure track faculty member to coordinate all pharmacy practice teaching laboratory/skills activities across the PharmD Program. UMES is located in rural Maryland and is one of America’s most beautiful campuses. Salary:

$116,500 - $135,960

Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum planning, mapping and assessment of laboratory/skills activities for the school’s newly designed integrated curriculum.
  • Coordination of all practice laboratory/skills activities across the curriculum, including objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs).
  • Orientation of faculty, health professionals and students to the lab.
  • Train faculty, adjunct faculty, health professionals, and resident/fellow/student to execute laboratory/skills activities.
  • Preparation of the lab for skills-based activities.
  • Order supplies and maintain inventory for all pharmacy practice lab activities.
  • Work collaboratively with all faculty in scheduling skills-based activities in the lab.
  • Assist faculty in developing and implementing meaningful practice/clinically based scenarios for simulation.
  • Assist faculty in the development of the assessment tools used to assess entrustable professional activities.
  • Provide feedback and evaluate student skills assessments in coordination with course instructors.
  • Assists in procuring and maintaining various pharmacy-related software and equipment.
  • Provide oversight to students for remediation of practice skills as requested by faculty.
  • Cooperate and coordinate with others in team taught courses as agreed to with the Department Chair.
  • Maintain a clinical practice site in their area of expertise.
  • Develop independent and collaborative educational research in their area of expertise.
  • Serve on School and University committees, participate in regional and/or national professional organizations, and engage in other school and University activities (e.g. admissions interviews, student advising).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Department Chair
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Pharmacy.
  • Completion of a post-graduate year one (PGY1) residency or at least three (3) years of comparable clinical experience in an acute care setting.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
  • A team approach to patient care.
  • Strong commitment to teaching excellence, student engagement, research collaboration, and service.
Physical Demands:
  • May require extended periods of standing, bending, stooping, sitting at desk.
  • May require lifting.
  • Requires communication with a variety of constituents externally and internally.
  • Requires operation of a variety of office equipment.
Preferences:
  • Experience in didactic and experiential teaching.
  • Completion of a post-graduate year two (PGY2) in a related specialty.
  • Board certification in a related specialty.
Licenses/ Certifications:

Current Maryland pharmacy license or eligibility for Maryland licensure
